PROMOTION OF BIODIVERSITY: INITIATIVE WAHO/ECOWAS/ROPPA AND BIOVERSITY

WAHO, BIOVERSITY and ROPPA have organized in Ouagadougou, November 3-5-2009, a Regional Meetion for the Promotion of Local Foods from our Biodiversity, to contribute to the control of under and over nutrition.
This meeting’s aim is to improve social and economic situtation in our rural and urban areas.
OBJECTIVES OF THE MEETING
• Provide to participants pathways, synergies and outcomes between agriculture and health/nutrition and the biodiversity
• Share issues related to standards, quality for the promotion of processed local foods in West Africa.
• Share experiences of ROPPA and others stakeholders on the promotion of local foods
•Identify needs, institutions and possible funding sources to develop a regional Food Composition database that will include biodiversity
• Develop an action plan to identify opportunities and fill gaps regarding the challenges for the promotion of foods from our Biodiversity including resource mobilization from ECOWAS Commission and others partners.
